Dr. Anita Gleeson BSc, MSc, DC
I am a former graduate of the reputable Glamorgan University in Wales. After five years of intensive studying I returned to Ireland in 2009 to begin work in busy clinics in the midlands and Tipperary for three years before setting up DUNGARVAN CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC in 2012. I am a fully insured Chiropractor, a member of the CAI (Chiropractic Association of Ireland) and the European Chiropractic Council.
I always wanted to work in a health care profession but my first experience with a Chiropractor was when I was 13years of age. I suffered with chronic headaches. After exhausting all the usual medical routes (CAT scans/eye and ear investigation/dentistry checks) I was brought to a Chiropractor. I was diagnosed with cervicogenic headaches (headaches caused by nerve irritation as a result of a spinal subluxation). After a course of adjustments my headaches vanished! I was fascinated by the mechanics and scientific evidence behind Chiropractic. When it came to work experience in transition year in school I went to shadow a number of Chiropractors around Ireland. Straight away I realised this was the career path for me!
I have a special interest in treating elite athletes and sport related injuries. Outside of work I enjoy horse riding, skiing and running and I am involved in the local West Waterford running club. I am committed to promoting optimal health and well being in Dungarvan and the surrounding county of Waterford.

I graduated from the Welsh Institute of Chiropractic in 2020 and was delighted and eager to start work immediately in Dungarvan Chiropractic Clinic. During my studies in Wales I completed a dissertation researching the possible effects that chiropractic treatment can have on the signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease, I was honoured to be awarded the Royal College of Chiropractors award for Best Research Project. I am a fully insured chiropractor and a member of both the Chiropractic Association of Ireland and the European Chiropractic Council.
I always wanted to work in a profession which allowed me to help people. I received chiropractic treatment from a young age, initially for a particularly bad “crick” in my neck and then for a lower back injury. I found that regular chiropractic treatment seemed to make me less susceptible to injuries when playing camogie as a lot of the problems were caught early. My family members also found great relief from chiropractic treatment over the years, for everything ranging from bulging discs to tennis elbow to general biomechanical problems such as flat feet. I struggled to decide on a future career in secondary school and the thought of moving to another country to study was quite daunting. However, in the end, I decided that chiropractic was my true passion and the only thing for me!
I have a keen interest in the GAA, I previously played on goal for my local GAA club and I continue to be involved with the team to this day. Outside of work I enjoy hill walking and yoga.
I graduated from University College Dublin with a BSc Chemistry. Following this I spent 7 years as an analytical chemist in a pharmaceutical company. I took a break to go travelling and spent 2 years in Toronto.
On my return, I completed a Fetac Level 5 Business Administration course through the adult education system. I worked as a medical secretary in busy GP surgeries for 2 years before joining the team here at Dungarvan Chiropractic Clinic.
I have a keen interest in crafting, including crochet and upcycling, and try to grow my own vegetables. I am also the patient representative on the Board of Directors for YouCan Cancer Support Network Ireland.
